As the original high school in the city of Waukesha, the Waukesha South Bands have a long and illustrious history. The bands of Waukesha have always had a reputation of excellence, and it was here at South that the reputation began.

Several bands are offered at South: 

• Concert Band performs in the auditorium several times throughout the year.

• Symphonic Winds and Percussion (SWAP) performs as marching band during the fall football season, as well as several auditorium concerts throughout the year.

• Jazz Ensemble performs in several concerts each year, culminating with the end of year finale “Jazz Nightclub”.

All band students are required to participate in Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA) Solo & Ensemble Festival.

Waukesha South Color Guard is open to all Waukesha South students in grades 9-12. No previous experience required!

Throughout the year, area restaurants donate a portion of sales to the Waukesha South Music Department on designated fundraiser nights. Visit our Dining Fundraisers page for more information.

There are many opportunities to help the band. Perhaps more importantly, we NEED your help! Please check back here frequently for volunteer and donation “sign-ups”.

• Cookie Walk - Check back later for 2025 information. Calling all bakers and treat makers! We need donations of holiday cookies and treats to make our cookie walk a success.  Don't like to bake but you still want to help? Semi-homemade treats are great, and we also need volunteers for setup and serving.

• Athletic Concessions - Various dates throughout the entire school year. 

  • It's true! You can earn money for Band by volunteering for Athletic Booster concession shifts!

  • When you sign up, enter “Band” in the comments so your shift payment goes to Band.

  • If you're new to concessions, also enter “NEED TRAINING” in the comments and email wsboosterconcession@gmail.com for information.

• Band Roadies - Various Fri/Sat/Sun football games and marching events from Aug-Oct.

• Marchfest - Sat, Sept. 27 - BIGGEST FUNDRAISER OF THE YEAR! LOTS OF HELP NEEDED!
